Chris Eccleston notwithstanding

posted in Uncategorized |

The Dark Is Rising movie looks as awful as I feared. A LOTR ripoff and completely missing the point of the novels (I’ve been horrified ever since I heard that they were Americanizing it). I try really really hard not to be a literary snob, where I sniff at every change that they make from book to movie, but. But. *sigh*

  • Nothing related, but that icon is hysterical! Love it! Mine mine mine. 😀

  • Oh, so depressing. 🙁

I was fairly impressed by one of the trailers I saw…and I will definitely go to see it, and YAY Christopher Eccleston ^^, but…ack. Why Americanize British things…WHY?! *grumble* Why mess with good books? is possibly an even better question.

Agreed with what I can agree with, having my knowledge, anyway! *sigh* *hopes*

(I love that icon of yours, by the way.)

You know, I really liked the trailer. I don’t mind that they are changing it. From what I’ve seen, it looks like solid entertainment.

However, I admit that I really don’t understand the reasoning behind some of the more noticeable changes. I would have thought that this book could be easily adapted in a more literal way to the screen (not the series, but this one volume).

My goal was to read 120 books this year. I just finished number 129. (Some of these I reviewed as part of my WWW posts). October: Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. I had high expectations for this book, as it had been so praised, and I felt let down by it. Still enjoyable, […]
