Music meme

I am doing a real post, but for the moment:

Name six songs that you are currently digging … it doesn’t matter what genre they are from, whether they have words or even if they’re any good but they must be songs you’re really enjoying right now. Post these instructions and then list the six artists and the songs in your LiveJournal.

1. Harbor by Vienna Teng. sail your sea/meet your storm/all I want is to be your harbor/the light in me/will guide you home/all I want is to be your harbor. Gorgeous voice.
2. Who We Are by Hope Partlow. I don’t want to put on my makeup/just like every girl in the magazine/ That’s not who I am when I wake up/ that’s not who I want to be/ there’s so much more to me that meets the eye/in this life . A freebie from iTunes and I just love it. Her album comes out on September 6th.
3. Die Lustige Witwe Duett by Franz Lehar. The Merry Widow is one of my absolute favorite operettas. One day I shall tell you abut discovering it on PBS staying up late to study… Oh wait, I just did. Anyway, this is the romantic waltz, where the two main characters finally realize that they’re in love with each other. (It’s in German).
4. One Prairie Outpost by Carbon Leaf. Scene after scene passes by my life/The window’s a wound. The road is a knife/The irony, ask me, ‘where have you been?’/I don’t know, I don’t know/Because I don’t know where to begin. I discovered Carbon Leaf through A Life Less Ordinary, and since then have discovered that they have their unique mix of bluegrass/celtic/classic rock/alternative that I really really like. Go to their website, http://www.carbonleaf.com –they have complete albums for free and you can listen to their new one.
5. The Boogie That Be by Black Eyed Peas. I hate hip hop. I do. Unless it’s iPod and iTunes ads, and then… well, it releases the dreadlock punk in me that wants to groove. (m4a–iTunes only, sorry!)
6. Days Are Numbered (The Traveller) by The Alan Parsons Project. I grew up on Alan Parsons and it’s still what I turn to when I’m having a rough time. This was probably my favorite and now, as I’m considering turning my world upside down and moving across country, the words really speak to me. The traveller awaits the morning tide/He doesn’t know what’s on the other side/But something deep inside of him/Keeps telling him to go/He hasn’t found a reason to say no … Abandoning reality, unsure of what he’ll find/The traveller in me is close behind

Enjoy! Hope you like!

Me, pouring over weather forecasts and maps for months: “Well, as much as I really don’t want to do Texas, they really are going to have the highest likelihood of clear skies to see the solar eclipse. So I guess I’ll go to Dallas, instead of up north where I could visit friends. *grumbles and […]
