GG Drabble–Forms of Carbon

posted in Uncategorized |

I actually wrote something GG related! I’m still completely unable to channel Rory and right now, trying to write Jess is a little painful, so instead, I wrote this. Comments are always appreciated! 🙂

Title: Forms of Carbon
Word Count: 100
Characters: Lindsay, peripherally Dean
Adult Content: Not really
Author Notes: After the season 4 finale (spoilers). I tried to make it symbolic. I think I failed. 🙂

The ring dazzled when he proposed, reflecting as starlight and love and youth. A solitaire diamond from carbon pressed through millennia to create brilliance. A blemish marred the sparkle—she ignored it. It was perfect.
In nine months of marriage, she had never taken it off; her finger couldn’t remember the weightless feeling before he committed to love her until death.
Tonight, it was black and heavy, the silver cold. The moment he stepped into their bedroom—she knew. That single flaw, a crack in his past, had poisoned their marriage tonight.
The lump of ash tightened against her finger.

    Your drabble is wonderful.

    Dean is a lying scumbag.

Yes! *points at Marissa’s post* What she said. Exactly what she said. With a ‘poor Lindsay’ on the end. 🙁 I’ve felt sorry for her since Chicken or Beef. It would have been nice if Dean had actually married her because he loved her. But that would have been to easy.

Any way, I just wanted to stop by and thank you. A LOT.
Your latest review of NOGG just made my month (oh… I’m Holly Gilmore, by the way. lol). Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that out and give me a nudge to get back to updating. It really meant a lot to me.
Ever since the finale I’ve kinda been too pissed at a certain Gilmore Girl to write anything worth reading. But you gave me a boost and I updated NOGG the next day. So thank you.

Another one of my favorite writers is here on LJ??! *Squee!* I love the internet! I’m friending you–do you mind?

I feel sorry for Lindsay. It’s obvious that she loved him and she just gets thrashed on by everybody. Personally, I’m kinda hoping that she’ll do a Loraina Bobbitt. (Did I actually say that???)

*blushes brightly* Ah, geez. You’re welcome. I just feel bad because it’s taken me so long to review it… And then you got one of my bizarre reviews too. But if it inspired you to write–well, I didn’t think I had that kind of power!!

I was just going through some of my old emails yesterday and saw the ones that we exchanged a year ago. Do you remember that? Sorry for losing contact with ya. 🙂

Of course I remember. Your wonderful suggestions helped me show things from Lorelai’s POV in Heart and Shoulder. And, as awful as it sounds, I’d never really thought of things from a mother’s/my mother’s POV before.

I’m sorry we lost contact also. Maybe now that I have an LJ we can talk a little more. 🙂

I’m sorry about all the trouble with your class and your professor, by the way. I don’t know what I would have done in that situation, but it sounds like you handled it well. I probably would have panicked and had a nervous break down in front of the professor or something!
Glad it seems to be sorted out now though.

I hope so. I have a tendency to disappear for long periods of time, but I’m trying to reign that in.

If it had just been me, I probably would have not done anything. I’m the most passive person in the world–I absolutely hate confrontations and when I do, I tend to break down in tears. So I’m glad had my buddy. All is good, now. We received passing grades and don’t have to make up anyhing. Yea!

    • 2025 – Quilts! 01/07/2026
For Christmas, my sister and I made National Park quilts for my parents, sister and brother-in-law, and niblings. 6 of them were small lap quilts, with a simple print, batting, and a backing that we sewed. The last was a queen size quilt for my sister’s camping trailer – it was a challenge putting it […]
