La dee da – meme time

posted in Uncategorized |

Work is boring me to death right now. After the excitement and bustle of the ICU, working in the outpatient clinics, seeing a patient an hour, and finding out way too much information about people’s bowel movements is driving me nuts. On the plus side, I’m only working about 3 hours a day. On the minus side, I’m only working about 3 hours a day, and am not in the slightest motivated to put the other hours of the day to good use, ie, studying for the exam that I hafta do really well on. And I’m really piling on the miles on my poor widdle car.

Big clinical exam (ie, practical, hands on with practice patients) on Monday. 8 “patients”, 4 hours. 15 minute visits, 10 minutes to write it up. My kind of fun. Yeah. Not looking forward to that one.

But the time off has left me time to do meme’s like this one…

List five songs that you are currently digging … it doesn’t matter what genre they are from, whether they have words or even if they’re any good but they must be songs you’re really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artist and the song in your blog along with your five songs. Then tag five other people to see what they’re listening to.

(But could I ever limit myself to just five? Not possible! To make it up, I’m actually including the songs, though. Download and enjoy!)

1. Life Less Ordinary – Carbon Leaf. Such an infectious song. I’ve had this one on repeat a lot.
2.True – Ryan Cabrera.. Yes, I am rather ashamed to admit that I’m listening to the new king of bubble gum pop, but this song gets me, and I’m a sucker for it.
3. Now and Forever – Carole King (can’t give you this one, still iTunes protected). Sang this song at a conference when I was a junior in high school. Loved it. Loved it more when I realized that it was the theme for A League of Their Own.
4. Where’ve You Been? – Kathy Mattea (again, iTunes protected). Probably the only true country song that I love and adore. I found it last night, and started to cry when I listened to it. It’s probably overly sentimental, but when her voice cracks at the end, I lose it.
5. Lost At Sea – Eisley. Soft, melodious, pretty voice. My sister just ripped the CD for me, and I’m loving it.
6. You & Me – Lifehouse. Another radio induced love. Was shocked to discover that it was Lifehouse who sang this.
7. Laura – Scissor Sisters (grr, I thought I had unprotected this one! I’ll get it up tomorrow). My favorite workout song. Nothing gets me moving like this one–I practically bounce off the elliptical machine.
8. Ana Ng – They Might Be Giants. TMBG makes me sentimental. I wish they’d come back; they are the best concerts in the world.
9. Star Wars – Moosebutter. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you must download this. It’s the whole plot of Star Wars sung a cappella and set to all of John William’s music–except his Star Wards themes. It’s hilarious and fantastic.
10. When I’m Sixty-Four – The Beatles. The song of ultimate hope. And cheesiness.

Passing it onto: shirerain, donnazita, fileg, kimarama, and teacupduchess

I know I’m probably missing a dozen of the songs that I’ve been “digging”, but eh, I’m going to bed.

    • 2025 – Quilts! 01/07/2026
For Christmas, my sister and I made National Park quilts for my parents, sister and brother-in-law, and niblings. 6 of them were small lap quilts, with a simple print, batting, and a backing that we sewed. The last was a queen size quilt for my sister’s camping trailer – it was a challenge putting it […]
