Just because it’s been bugging me since Thursday

posted in Uncategorized |

There. I feel better.

ETA: I should clarify (option #2) that this isn’t about texting in general, more about texting while driving, no matter what conditions (highway speeds, stop and go traffic, construction, etc). I text (occasionally). I’m painfully slow at it and it probably causes great amusement to those around me, but it’s nice in the way that an email is nice–when you just want to say something nice and quick and not get caught in pleasantries.

I wouldn’t text driving. I see lots of people talking on the phone while they drive, too, but I haven’t done that except in an emergency. In fact after this year in CA people will get a ticket if they talk on the phone while driving without a headset.

It’s sad the stupid people have to ruin it for the rest of us. Like my friend *cough* who called me the other day while driving to tell me what time the party was.

I DO text though…my brother all the time, and a couple of my friends sometimes.

I’ve talked on the phone while driving. Not very often, but yes, I’ve done it, but it’s only in really good traffic and if I’m getting too absorbed, I either hang up or pull off. Chris is horribly guilty for doing it. He talks all of the time. Best yet, he drives a manual. I have no idea where he gets the extra hand.

No, it was really the texting while driving thing that got my blood broiling. While merging onto a freeway. In a construction zone. In rush hour traffic. Honestly came close to killing the girl.

I wish I could say I’m an excellent driver (even though I wouldn’t, I don’t think ^^), but I’m not (yet? πŸ˜› I don’t even have my license), and I’m not one of those superspeed texters either, so even if I wanted to, it would take some real strategy on my part. πŸ˜‰

I’m an awesome texter, and yes, I text in the driver’s seat sometimes, which is an extremely stupid idea, but it’s extremely rarely while the car is moving (usually at a stoplight)… the other day I did it on bumper to bumper traffic, but we literally weren’t moving. Plus, I don’t need to look at the keys at this point anyway.

I kinda wish I had mad txting skilz. πŸ™‚

That kind of texting (at stoplights, etc), wouldn’t bother me too much, because it really doesn’t harm anyone. I comb my hair on my way to work. It’s a distraction, I occasionally get honked at at the stoplight because I miss that the light turned red. Texting at freeway speeds in a construction zone really does. She was good, much faster than my typing skills, but she still had to glance down at her screen (especially to read all of her messages she got in return) and I felt like I was in danger the entire trip.

Yeah, it’s an incredibly stupid idea.

Absolutely not. Never, ever. And, considering it’s illegal in New York to even be on the phone while driving without a hands-free device…no way. I’m sorry, but, to me, there is absolutely no excuse to talk in your car, let alone text someone. It’s dangerous, and I would never risk an accident that could harm other people. The conversation can wait. That’s just me, though.

Actually, I do know what texting is, but as I keep forgetting to have my mobile phone switched on and charged, I might as well not know … over here drivers are forbidden from using mobile phones. The penalties are pretty stiff.

    • 2025 – Quilts! 01/07/2026
For Christmas, my sister and I made National Park quilts for my parents, sister and brother-in-law, and niblings. 6 of them were small lap quilts, with a simple print, batting, and a backing that we sewed. The last was a queen size quilt for my sister’s camping trailer – it was a challenge putting it […]
